Makes about 15 cups
Tip: I really prefer cooking and baking from scratch, but some sweet treats are just too easy plus too fun and tasty to turn down. With all the varieties of Oreo cookies on grocery shelves, just think of the possibilities for fun flavors here (think Birthday Cake Oreos with sprinkles tossed into the mix…or Cinnamon Bun Oreos with crushed Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal added…well, that might be disgusting 😀 ). Anyway, be creative and have fun a making a party treat!
Ingredients
12-15 cups plain popped popcorn
1 pkg original Oreo cookies (36 cookies)
12 oz. white chocolate (don’t skimp – Lindt White Chocolate works great and is worth it)
Prep & Directions
Spread a large sheet or two of parchment paper to have ready for the coated mixture to come…
Place popped popcorn in a large bowl.
Crush Oreo cookies by placing them in a sturdy food storage bag (ex: Ziploc gallon) and lightly pounding with a kitchen tool such as a rolling pin or large wooden spoon. Add to popcorn in bowl.
Gently melt white chocolate in microwave or in top of a double boiler. Be sure no moisture gets into the chocolate. Drizzle over the popcorn mixture.
Toss all ingredients together and spread on the parchment paper to cool for several hours…that’s the hardest part of this recipe!
